Ben Schuler

Ben Schuler studied Biochemistry at the University Regensburg, Germany, and at the University of Kent, UK. Ben received his PhD in Physical Biochemistry from the University of Regensburg in 1998. He did his postdoctoral research in Biophysics at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, USA. Supported by the Emmy Noether Program of the German Research Council (DFG), Ben Schuler then headed an independent research group at the University of Potsdam in Germany. He joined the department in 2004 and was promoted to Full Professor of Biochemistry in 2009.
He investigates the folding, misfolding and dynamics of proteins using a close combination of biochemical and spectroscopic methods, in particular single molecule fluorescence.
